DANNY EVERITT

Houston, Texas

Danny has been performing and writing songs since he was a teenager growing up in Victoria, Texas. He began his professional musical journey in the Austin, Texas nightclub scene in the 1970′s. While attending The University, he formed a band and signed a recording contract with Pompeii Records out of Dallas. After graduating with a degree in Radio-TV-Film he moved to Nashville where he became a staff songwriter and began traveling the U.S. as a solo performer for Buddy Lee Attractions. Touring in Texas, Danny met an old friend from school who set up an audition at a folk club in Houston. A growing live music scene there captured his imagination. So he returned to his home state and enjoyed a very successful reputation as a songwriter and performer in the Montrose district deep in the heart of the city.

In 1979, he formed his own record label – Instant Records, production company – Jessi Rose Productions, and publishing company – Jessi Rose Music, BMI. He released his first solo album FIRE DOWN INSIDE, Instant Records (1981). In 1983 he moved to Los Angeles where he met Eric Burdon of Animals fame, resulting in Everitt’s first major cover. I.R.S. Records released ARK (1984), which featured three of his songs including “Love Is For All Times” the second single off the album, breaking the top 50 Billboard chart.

Many recording artists have covered his songs including Shake Russell, Teresa James, Scott McGill, Bob Bourgoin, Coco Kallis, Demis Roussos, Brook Benton, and Eric Burdon & the Animals. Over the years he has performed and recorded with Jack Saunders, Dana Cooper, Gurf Morlix, Connie Mims, Walt Wilkens, Butch Morgan, Robert Frith, Bob Livingston and many other noted Texas writers.

Danny plays listening rooms, house concerts, wine bars and festivals year round.  He is a past NEW FOLK WINNER and headliner at the Kerrville Folk Festival.  He was also a finalist in the American Song Festival and the 2006 Dallas Songwriters Association competition.  In 2007, 2008 and 2009 the Academy of Texas Music nominated him SINGER/SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR.

FIRE DOWN INSIDE is available in both CD and vinyl at MyTexasMusic.com. His last release, COLD WIND COLD RAIN has received critical acclaim and international airplay. His current effort, scheduled for release later this year, features more new heartfelt songs and some favored guests.
